The new portal forms part of our work to simplify the filing experience for Plant Breeder's Rights (PBR) customers and will provide an improved experience for QPs managing PBR application activities.
The new portal will be available through Online Services from Tuesday 7 July 2026.
Key information
- IVDS will be switched off from 5:00 pm AEST on Thursday 2 July 2026.
- The new portal will go live on Tuesday 7 July 2026.
- Existing variety description data, including unsubmitted draft information held in IVDS, will be migrated to the new portal.
- During the period between IVDS being switched off and the new portal becoming available, IP Australia will complete final data migration and system verification activities.
About the new portal
The new portal will provide QPs with the ability to:
- view and manage applications assigned to them
- submit and amend pre-examination trial agreements (PETA)
- submit and amend detailed variety descriptions
- access supporting trial documentation and datasheets.
Accessing the new portal
To use the new system, you will need an Online Services account:
- register using the email address linked to your QP accreditation
- ensure multi-factor authentication (MFA) is set up.
Only accounts linked to your QP accreditation email address will have access to the portal.
Guidance and support
Guidance materials, including a QP portal user guide, will be published in the PBR manual when the new portal launches.
Additional support and training will also be available to assist Qualified Persons in transitioning to the new system.
